KCSiE quote "The designated safeguarding lead should take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection (including online safety and understanding the filtering and monitoring systems and processes in place) Responsibilities include providing advice and support to staff on child welfare, taking part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings, and/or supporting other staff to do so, and contributing to the assessment of children.​

The DSL (and any deputies) should undergo training to provide them with the knowledge and skills required to carry out the role. This training should be updated at least every two years. Any deputies should be trained to the same standard as the DSL and the role should be explicit in their job description."

Target audience: Senior Leaders in the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputies

Pre-requisites:

Completed safeguarding children training (SCT) within the last 3 years

Ideally delegates should have completed Early Help Module System Training as Key Worker or Team Around the Family practitioner

DSL/DDSL to ensure prior to training that they are able to access these  websites as these are key practice guidances that will be used within the training to support your critical analysis of the case study exercises. ​
